“With a few flowers in my garden, half a dozen pictures and some books, I live without envy.”
~ Lope de Vega
The sun is rising beautifully as I write this; the brilliant red hues are changing by the second. I’m watching this all from the comfort of my bed–such a blessing. I’m tempted to grab my phone, or go downstairs and get my camera, to try to capture a photo but I don’t. A flare up of a chronic issue has me somewhat sidelined right now so I’m staying put and watching the show unfold live. Turns out that’s the better thing after all.

Today: finishing up the taxes and taking it slow.
I often tell myself…forget the camera, just enjoy the show (or the view, or the action, or whatever). I don’t want to be remembered just for having a camera in front of my face. Enjoy the moment.
I purposely leave my camera behind when I visit my grandchildren because I want to enjoy my time with them. Any pictures I take of our time together is done hastily on my phone and, as a result, are not very good. I’m okay with that.
Wise choice. My camera has become such a habit, especially since it is one with my phone. I sometimes wish I could enable it and just BE.
So much has changed since smartphones with cameras became part of our life. I think we could all do a better job of simply being if we put our phones away.
