I was born to be a grandma. I adore being a grandma.
Gerry and I are home from Calgary where we spent a few days in grandparent paradise. We started a tradition a few years ago of having an early Christmas celebration with the grandchildren that gets more fun with each passing year!
From watching Jaxon at skating lessons, to playing hide-and-seek with Makiya, to giving piggy back rides, playing games, reading and snuggling, it was the the BEST TIME!
Can you tell?!
“Perfect love sometimes does not come until the first grandchild.”
Welsh Proverb
We read lots of stories. I am so pleased that they both love books as much as I do.
“Everyone needs to have access both to grandparents and grandchildren in order to be a full human being.” ~Margaret Mead
Chatting with Makiya. She listens so intently!
“Grandchildren are God’s way of compensating us for growing old.” ~Mary H. Waldrip
Piggy back rides. It was fun when she wanted to give me a ride too!
“If I had known how wonderful it would be to have grandchildren, I’d have had them first.” Lois Wyse
“Grandmothers sprinkle stardust over children’s lives.” — Author: Unknown
“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies.”
~Rudolph Giuliani
“Being grandparents sufficiently removes us from the responsibilities so that we can be friends.” ~Allan Frome
Why yes, those vests the grands are wearing do match the ones Gerry and I are wearing! Gifts from Grandma and Grandpa!
“Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation.” Lois Wyse
We received some very special news this trip!
In a few months we will be blessed to welcome a third grandchild into our family.
God is so good to us!

Looks like you had a wonderful time! They’re precious, aren’t they? I love the quotes, btw. Ira has often quoted Lois Wyse’s quote.
They are the best! I always knew Ira was a wise man. Give him our best wishes, okay?
Who’s having the next one?!
Jaxon is going to have a baby brother or sister!
Hi Linda .. looks to be such fun .. and as you say each year .. so many changes – next year three – wonderful news. A very happy Christmas and New Year to one and all .. cheers Hilary
And a Merry Christmas to you and yours, Hilary!
Such wonderful quotes and pictures, Linda! I love the feeling of joy and family you impart here. I have adopted my grand-nieces and nephews to be my grandchildren. I am totally in love with my year-old grand-niece!
Oh I do understand how easy it is to fall in love with a one year old!
Your grandchildren are so lucky to have you!
I’m the blessed one, Grace!
Linda, I love this! As a mother who never got to mother, but has had a chance to grandmother, I understand how precious these times are. Enjoy! They clearly enjoy you. XO
Congratulations on the soon-to-be-born third grandchild. I’m looking forward to seeing pictures.
