A Grand Christmas Celebration

I was born to be a grandma. I adore being a grandma.

Gerry and I are home from Calgary where we spent a few days in grandparent paradise. We started a tradition a few years ago of having an early Christmas celebration with the grandchildren that gets more fun with each passing year!

From watching Jaxon at skating lessons, to playing hide-and-seek with Makiya, to giving piggy back rides, playing games, reading and snuggling, it was the the BEST TIME!

Can you tell?!

“Perfect love sometimes does not come until the first grandchild.”
Welsh Proverb

We read lots of stories. I am so pleased that they both love books as much as I do.

“Everyone needs to have access both to grandparents and grandchildren in order to be a full human being.” ~Margaret Mead

Chatting with Makiya. She listens so intently!

“Grandchildren are God’s way of compensating us for growing old.”  ~Mary H. Waldrip

Piggy back rides. It was fun when she wanted to give me a ride too!

“If I had known how wonderful it would be to have grandchildren, I’d have had them first.”  Lois Wyse

Playing and sharing.

“Grandmothers sprinkle stardust over children’s lives.” — Author: Unknown

Learning to skate.

“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance.  They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life.  And, most importantly, cookies.”
~Rudolph Giuliani

Cousin hugs.

“Being grandparents sufficiently removes us from the responsibilities so that we can be friends.” ~Allan Frome

Why yes, those vests the grands are wearing do match the ones Gerry and I are wearing! Gifts from Grandma and Grandpa!

“Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation.” Lois Wyse

We received some very special news this trip!

In a few months we will be blessed to welcome a third grandchild into our family.

God is so good to us!

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
