Abundance

Makiya is excited to sit in the hot tub after their journey so, not long after they arrive, we three girls have a soak and a chat. She started writing the annual Christmas play in the car on the way down, later she conducts interviews and, with great ceremony, chooses a director (Laurinda). I assume rehearsals with commence sometime today.

Then dinner, and games, and laughter, and my heart is so full at having these two here. Ladybug Girl settles in to bed to read, and Gerry does the same. I grab a blanket and Laurinda and I hunker down in the living room for some late-night mother-daughter conversation.

Today, a couple of errands, last-minute wrapping, Christmas dinner prep, and maybe we’ll start rehearsals for that play (I don’t know, I’m just a supporting actor who follows direction.). The day will unfold as it should.

Still no snow, but there is an abundance of blessing in its place.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
