Dare I Dream?

Dare I dream
that the green
on the back lawn will grow larger
with each passing day
till it takes over
and the white
is nothing more than a memory?

Dare I dream
that this year
will be different from the last
and the slippery slope
will level off
so we can move on
not forgetting the storm we weathered?

Dare I dream
that the thing that tried hard to
steal my peace and take me out
is just a phantom
behind a curtain
with no real power
in the end?

I do.
I dare.
Because it’s the only thing I know how to do.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things.
