In the chapel courtyard the Divine whispers
in the sound of the waterfall;
in the promise of plants that still lie dormant;
in the shelter of the cloister;
in the whimsey of the designer;
in the red heart that shines like a sweet surprise in the afternoon sun.
I am at a Lifewriting retreat this weekend at Festival Hill in Round Top Texas. While out for a walk this afternoon I was inspired to write this verse.

It is beautiful. Can you imagine it all when everything is in bloom? Lucky us!
Lucky us, indeed, Judy!
Oh Linda, I’m so glad you’ve connected with the magic! Nothing quite like Festival Hill.
It is magical, Sid! I wish you were here with us though!
I would love to be where you are. The photos are inspirational as are the words. Enjoy!
It was a magical place, Christy!
Festival Hill is, indeed, a special, set-aside place. Relish your stay and the creativity that both the place and the company will inspire. A happy, honest weekend of wholeness.
Wonderful – magical – beautiful!
I’ve only been once, years ago, and it was off-season. You used to be able to sign up for an herbal class and luncheon with the mother/daughter team who designed the gardens, but I think the mother passed on, so I’m not sure if they still offer things like that. Regardless, I think John and I should take a little trip out there this spring.
Oh you MUST go, Becky! I would love to be able to go back in a few months when everything is growing. I am certain you would love it.
What an amazing place! I love your poem and the pictures. Hope you’ll write more about your experience there.
Linda dear,
Just trying to track you down. So glad you’re at a writing retreat.
I was a keynote speaker at Festival Hill and felt like I fell into heaven. Everything was in bloom, the air sweet and cool, the people wonderful. Ahhh, great memories. I loved it.
Sending best wishes to you across the miles,

Happy you found me, Sharon. I can only imagine Festival Hill in full bloom…someday…someday….I hope to experience it.
Linda you really nailed it with this poem! It was lovely to be with you at magical Festival Hill. Thanks too for linking me to Sharon Lovejoy’s site. I loved it. Here’s to creative women everywhere!
Lovely to be with you too, Jude. Sharon is a gem; I am sure you will appreciate her as much as I do!
