Forty-One Things

It’s 10:00 am. This morning I have:

1. prayed
2. laughed
3. enjoyed a quiet cup of coffee when I was the only one awake in the house
4. taken a shower and gotten dressed
5. made the bed
6. talked with Gerry about something important
7. talked with Makiya about other important things
8. blanched and froze green beans
9. offered suggestions on what to take to school for lunch
10. said “no” to a half-hearted ask for a ride to school
11. lost a chess game
12. put dishes in the dishwasher
13. ground coffee and filled reusable Keurig pods
14. cuddled dogs
15. settled the littlest dog in a bed next to where I was working in the kitchen
16. given treats to dogs
17. sent an e-transfer to the dog groomer
18. sent a couple of emails
19. deleted a LOT of emails
20. made inquiries
21. stood at the window captivated by bright yellow fall mums on the back deck
22. hugged my husband
23. decided what to make for dinner
24. firmed up afternoon plans to get he pups to the groomer and back and Makiya to theatre
25. watered the sunflowers on my dining table
26. fed the dogs
27. given Murphy his meds
28. sipped a lukewarm mug of coffee (still sipping)
29. checked in on the judging for a poetry competition I’m coordinating for Story Circle Network
30. enjoyed the silence
31. enjoyed the noise
32. watch smoke curl out of a neighbour’s chimney
33. folded a sweatshirt that I restored to its former white glory and put it on Makiya’s bed
34. doled out three sets of vitamins and taken said vitamins
35. tossed laundry in the washer
36. made the bed
37. felt content
38. groaned inwardly when my MacBook told me it needs to be plugged into a power outlet
39. tiptoed from the room to avoid waking a sleeping dog (it didn’t work)
40. put a piece of paper on the kitchen counter so I won’t forget to take it with me when I take Makiya to theatre
41. written a blog post
