“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”

~ Maya Angelou

Spent a restless night after a difficult day. Here we go.

Managed to get eight quarts of crushed tomatoes canned yesterday. Maybe not the smartest use of my time but they had to be dealt with. Also probably not the best year to do crushed tomatoes as they’re somewhat more labour intensive that simply canning tomatoes the way I usually do it. Anyway, I’m glad they’re done and I’ll appreciate them greatly in a few months.

Today, I’m going to try to do something with the blueberries–a cobbler at the very least.

For now, lying low, sipping coffee, and looking for sparks of gratitude in the midst of this challenge.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
