“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.” ~ Alex Haley
“Grandparents are there to help the child get into mischief they haven’t thought of yet.” ~ Gene Perret
Ah August, you have passed by so quickly. Does it seem that way for you too?
It’s been a busy month and my pantry and freezer shelves are respectably full. The garden, while waning, continues to produce. (Cucumbers anyone?)
The busyness of August meant I had less time with my camera. Many of the photos I’ve shared here this month were taken before canning season got into full swing.
Summer finally kicked in and we had some fairly hot days–though there were still more days that I didn’t turn on the air conditioning than there were with it on. The bonus this summer was the opportunity to keep the windows open and let the fresh air in most of the time.
Perhaps best of all, our granddaughter spent a week with us. What fun we had together! Yesterday was the first full day at home since she left. My, how quiet it seemed. This girl is a precious treasure and a source of endless joy in my life. Those of you who are grandparents understand exactly what I mean!
I’ve sensed the coming change of seasons for weeks. Spider webs in the garden, a certain coolness in the mornings, and leaves just beginning to be touched with gold. Today, I’m going to put on a pot of soup with veggies from my garden. The forecast is for a wet and cool trend to roll in; soup will be just the thing for lunch for the next few days. Hubby is away today so I’m going to head to my studio for some much-needed tidying and organizing. I’m looking forward to some quiet concentrated photography time too.
Thanks so much for reading and commenting and being part of my August blogaversary! I’ve loved interacting with you all this month! I’ll be back tomorrow with the names chosen from the drawing who will receive a copy of Bella Grace magazine (I have two copies to give away) or my book Two Hearts: An Adoptee’s Journey Through Grief to Gratitude.
Have a wonderful last day of August!

(Don’t forget every comment on the blog in August enters your name into the drawing for either a copy of the beautiful Bella Grace magazine or my book Two Hearts: An Adoptee’s Journey Through Grief to Gratitude.)

The photo is a keepsake. I see a little mischief in her eyes, perhaps inherited from G’ma.
Oh there’s definitely mischief in those eyes!!
Oh, she is so sweet, and I do see you in her, Linda! Love the grandparent quotes today.
I like the second quote the best! And I’ve assisted in much mischief I’m proud to say. Your August marathon was truly inspiring. I congratulate you on a month well done!
Somehow, that you were part of the mischief doesn’t surprise me! Isn’t that part of the joy of being a grandparent! Thanks so much for your support, Karen. Truly appreciated.
I love that Alex Haley quote! Your granddaughter is precious. What a sweet smile she has.
I hope she lives near enough to you that visits can happen fairly often.
Blessings,
Patti
Thank you, Patti. She’s the light of my life!
