The weather gurus said it is supposed to start warming up today. It’s currently -20C so we’ll see.
This week has been horribly cold–but sunny, so that does make it easier to bear. (Says she who has rarely ventured outside this week.)
Last night I dreamed I was in Saskatchewan (in the summer!) at my grandma’s house. One of the great regrets of my life is that I didn’t hold on to that place when I had the opportunity. There’s a good chance we’d be living in that hamlet now if I had.
The province of Saskatchewan is under extreme weather warnings right now. Yesterday temperatures, with the wind chill, around Grandma’s place were -45C (-49F). Maybe it would have been a better summer home.
Anyway, I’m enjoying this season of hygee and with the stores tucked away downstairs in the pantry we’re well able to ride out this cold snap in the comfort of home. It’s exactly what I envisioned after an exhausting day in the Hoye canning kitchen last summer.
I haven’t been by for a visit in a while. Your blog is beautiful, and as always, your words feel like poetry. I’ve been following your photos on Facebook and love watching the development of your skills. Your pictures are soothing and inspiring all at the same time.

When the temps are bad, I am with you – don’t go out unless it’s an emergency! We’ve had our share but are in a warming trend right now….it’s in the double digits – positive!
Woo hoo! Enjoy that warming trend! We’re in store for one too and before you know it we’ll be in February. And once February hits, well, it’s practically spring!
