“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”
~ Charles William Eliot
It is a historic day for our neighbours south of the border, indeed for the whole world. Some are celebrating, others are protesting; some jubilant, others afraid.
Without faith how easy it would be to get caught up and tossed asunder by it all. Without grace–well sadly, we are all too willing to stop extending it even though we ourselves are the recipients of grace in abundance.
In my lifetime I have not seen such division there and, in some circles, here. Social media makes it worse. Much of what I see hurts my heart.
Today might be a day to take refuge in a book.
