Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.WIlliam Orcutt Cushing (1823-1902)
In the morning, after a great loss, we look out the window and see the world carrying on as if nothing has changed and we wonder how can that be? When our world has been shaken to the core and nothing will ever be the same again in our lives it seems inconceivable that the rest of the world hasn’t shifted somehow.
Yet, there is comfort in these early morning musings because they remind us that God has not changed and that those truths we held on to yesterday remain this morning, and will remain for every morning to come. God has not left us. He holds us in his tender and loving care. He is close, so very close, to those whose hearts are broken.
We hold fast to the hope of a day when every single tear will be replaced with joy we can’t even conceive of on this morning. We imagine reunions that have just happened and that will happen one day in the future.
But for now we grieve. Our heart is broken.

Praying this morning for my dearest friend.
“The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to.”
~ Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

My condolences, Linda.
