“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

~ C.S. Lewis

We are gathering to celebrate the life of my best friend’s husband today–a gentle, quiet man of great integrity and faith.

There is sorrow to be sure, but there is also joy. It is not the fleeting joy about the temporary things that this world has to offer. It is a joy unspeakable that bubbles up through grief in light of eternity.

Because faith.

Because love.

Because God.

Because he is now home.

And because we long to be there one day too.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
  1. Your best friend is blessed to have you as she walks out the journey of grief set before her…my condolences for her loss.

    1. Thank you, Tamara.

  2. “This world is not conclusion / A sequel stands beyond” said Emily Dickinson. May these words comfort you as you comfort your friend simply with your presence, Linda.

    1. Marian, these words are perfect. Thank you.
