“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”
~ Mark Twain
It feels like I have a busy day ahead.
I break it down: water and harvest in the garden; freeze green beans and whatever else I gather; pick up a few groceries; make dog food; tend to a couple of administrative things in my office; make some decisions.
It doesn’t seem so busy when I look at it that way. I realize it feels so because there’s no slot for sitting on the deck with a book and a glass of cold tea. That, and the making decisions part.

Funny how some dates stick in your mind. Today, as I noted the date for this post I realized it’s my sister’s fifty-sixth birthday–my adoptive sister, the sister I haven’t seen or spoken to for sixteen years and who, I imagine, I won’t ever connect with again. No regrets . . . well some . . . but some things are best left as they are.

I am sorry Linda that you were not able to make a lasting connection with your adoptive sister. But yes, sometimes things are best left alone – unfortunate as it is….
