It’s a good day today – some ups and some downs. I have much to be thankful for.
The sun is shining and it’s warm outside. The local weather is calling for the temperature to go up to the 80s for the weekend.
As of about thirty minutes ago I am officially “on vacation” – it felt great to shut down my computer when I left the office.
I got a good haircut yesterday and today it’s behaving itself by staying up where it should and down where it needs to.
Gerry is bringing home dinner and some vanilla ice cream to enjoy with the fresh peaches I bought a few days ago. Huge thumbs up for my considerate hubby.
I wasn’t up all night; I slept relatively well.
In three days I will up in the air on my way to enjoying a “grand” time in Calgary.
I had an appointment with my doctor this afternoon and learned my cholesterol is down.
According to the handy-dandy graph on his computer I am almost the same weight I was four years ago. This is a good thing – it means my weight is down.
I’m looking forward to getting down to business with the rewrites on my manuscript tomorrow.
These are just the silly, somewhat giddy, ramblings of a fifty-two-year-old woman on the cusp of enjoying some time checked-out of the busyness of life. Over the next week you’ll find me in my garden, in the lawn swing, at my desk, writing, enjoying good conversation with my daughter and daughter-in-love, playing with the grands, freezing peaches, reading some good books, basking in the sunshine, and being mindful and thankful for every moment.
Happy Friday, all!

No wonder English is such a hard language to learn–or so friends have told me. Look at all the ways to use “up” and “down.” All these variations must elude many people trying to learn English. You’ve made me feel for them.
I found this posting truly witty and up-lifting. It kept my spirits from going down this evening! Thank you.
Have a wonderful vacation! What a fun post … 😀
It was fun to read, and congratulations on your cholesterol being DOWN and have a GREAT time enjoying life. I’m still working on getting my numbers DOWN. But your post really made me feel UP!
Not silly at all. It’s the stuff that life and happiness is all about. Thanks for sharing.
Good morning, friends. Thank you for being patient with me when I take a trip into “Silly Land”! It’s one of the perks of growing older; I give myself permission to be goofy now and then! Happy weekend all!
Linda, thanks so much for commenting on my recent blog posting and suggesting that I might consider writing a book about the convent and my experiences in it as well as why I entered–I blogged about that already–and why I left–the posting yesterday and tomorrow (Saturday). I’m really going to consider this. I never thought many people would be interested. Maybe I was wrong about that.
Have a fun vacation Linda! I’m hoping my next doc appointment will go as nice as yours..my weight is always in the UP and DOWN mode..but lately more in the UP than DOWN! Now I want to go get some fresh peaches too!
we are all up and down in one way or another.. cheers 🙂 happy weekend!
I enjoyed this post! Have a great vacation.
I loved your “goofiness” Linda! and didn’t think it was goofy at all. You remind me that it is so important to take note of all the good things happening. Those fresh peaches on vanilla ice cream sound wonderful. Have a relaxing, fun vacation disconnecting from the busyness and visualize yourself being able to do all those fun things more often when you are retired 🙂
What a fun post this was to read. I’m so glad you’re having such a great start to your vacation. I hope the entire time is exactly the best of summer.
