Friday morning. Before my first sip of soy milky frothy coffee, I watch in wonder as the first golden rays of the sun rising kiss the world where we live. I stand at the window transfixed by the grace of a deer wandering in our front yard. My eyes are drawn up as two Canada geese flew across a cloudless sky.
It is a perfect start to the day.
This week has been beautiful. After a dark and difficult winter, the change of seasons comes like an long expected, and perhaps slightly tardy, saviour. Surely, if I lived in permanent winter, especially like the one just passed, I would expire.
A few favourites from the week . . .
The garden. The truth is I’ve had little real motivation to get started in the garden, but we spent a pocket of time preparing the plot, I tossed a few seeds in the ground (spinach, lettuce, radishes, and marigolds), and the garden seems like an old friend again.
Floating. Ninety minutes floating in a sensory deprivation chamber? Pure bliss. Every float is different and this week was the best yet. I’m still basking in the post float glow.
Capris. I pulled on a pair of capri pants and a new t-shirt and felt like myself again. Buh-bye for now, long pants, sweaters, socks, and black everything. It’s time for a touch of colour.
Green. Gerry and I dropped Murphy off at the groomer, picked up a few groceries, then went to my favourite park where we sat in the sunshine and chatted. The green of the budding trees was simply stunning. I thought about taking a photo but it would have been a poor facsimile, so I just enjoyed it in the moment.
Our backyard. We cordoned off an area where Murphy can run free (Maya’s always been able to go out there with us, but tiny Murphy is not yet trained to stay in our area and is too attractive to hawks and other wildlife to allow the same freedom), Gerry is working on a little landscaping project carried over from last year, and I’m considering what to plant in the large flower pots and little pottager garden. It feels so good to have my attention drawn outdoors where we’ll spend a good part of the next few months.
So there you have it. A spring edition of Friday’s Fave filled with peace and all good simple things. Hope your week was equally blessed.
