We’ve come to the end of the final full week before we head out toward our little house on the prairie, and it’s been a full one. Let’s look back with a Friday’s Fave Five post.
Floating. I enjoyed a blissful 90 minutes float in a sensory deprivation chamber at my favourite self-care place in Kamloops one last time. I’ll have to travel to Regina to float from now on (about a 45 minute drive from Moose Jaw) and winter road conditions will dictate how often we go to the larger center (to visit Costco, Michael’s, and other big box stores) for the next few months. Floating will shift from a monthly indulgence to a once-in-a-while treat. Knowing that, made this session all the sweeter.
My hair stylist. I finally found one I really like who works magic with my hair and doesn’t feel the need to engage in forced small talk. He always comments on the (natural) colour of my hair and I come away feeling and looking pretty darn fine. I’ll miss him and his skill.
Cold weather and sunshine. Our backyard weather sensor reads -20C (equivalent to -4 F) this morning—a foretaste of what’s waiting for us in Saskatchewan. When you add the prairie wind to the mix, it will feel much colder. (For example, this morning it’s -24C in Moose Jaw but it feels like -36C (that’s -11F and -33F). Sunshine makes it easier to bear!
Mum. I’m quite smitten with this series on BritBox. The episodes are short and fun to pop in to for a smile now and then.
Take-out. We’re in that liminal space where most of our things are packed and there’s very little to eat in the house. What’s one to do but get take-out for dinner?
There’s more, but I’ll stop there. We’re on the last leg of this getting-ready-to-go journey and counting down the number of sleeps before we leave Kamloops and spend our first night in out new home in Moose Jaw (4 and 7). There’s a part of me that still can’t quite believe my lifelong dream is this close to coming true!

I can’t even imagine temperatures that cold!
I followed your link to “Mum” and watched the trailer. Thank you for the suggestion, it looks like something we would really like. We’re halfway through with Call the Midwife, and looking for something afterward.
I don’t think I could stand the floating, but my oldest son tried it once and enjoyed it. I don’t know if he has made it a regular thing or not. Maybe there will be a place to do it in your new area.
How exciting to be so close to your move! Take-out is a great help in times like that.
It’s great to have a good stylist. Hope you can find another good one in your new town!
Having moved 2400 miles recently, I understand your expectations, changes, stress of moving. I am glad you are excited about this move.
Safe travels to your new home.
