Friday’s Fave Five – December 4

I’m hunting hard to find five things for Friday’s Fave Five this difficult week when the days all ran together. Let’s see . . .

Conversation. A week ago, on her day off work, my daughter and I chatted on the phone for a couple of hours, took a break, and then chatted for a couple more hours. It was deep and good conversation—the kind I only have with her.

Sunshine. It makes such a difference, doesn’t it? Walks in the park, while still chilly, were made better with the sun shining this week.

Sunrise. One morning I looked up from my reading and saw this. I couldn’t help but exclaim “oh!” at the glory of it.

Coffee and conversation. We can’t meet in our favourite coffee shop anymore, but coffee and conversation in a friend’s living room can be equally sweet (And yes, I know we are under restrictions, but our provincial health officer says it’s okay to visit someone in your bubble in their home if they live alone. And I hate that I feel the need to justify this.).

The moon. Last night I stood at the window, looking out at the moon that seemed brighter somehow. Maybe there’s some astrological thing happening right now, or maybe not—I  pay little attention to such things. But the moon seemed brighter and it caught my attention and for a moment I paused and prayed.

There it is. A scant list for this thirty-eighth week of COVID time. That’s almost enough time to carry a baby to term. No wonder we’re all feeling weary.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm here early most mornings with one of my photos and a few words about life and those thin places where faith intersects.

  1. Some weeks are just a bit harder than others and that’s ok. What is important is that you found the blessings!
    Love your walking spot!

  2. Linda, I wasn’t even trying to commit to Five Friday Faves. I was just attempting to write a post this week. Finally, I decided to join in on Five Minute Friday and today’s prompt worked! But it was still a struggle. A very heavy week here. Blessings to you as we struggle through this birthing of hopefully something better and lovelier in 2021.

  3. The scene at the river looks so much like a place where I like to walk. I think our landscapes are similar, although you seem to have colder winters than we do.

Coffee and conversation have been my saving grace these past months.

  4. Tea and chat for me too works wonders. Even phone calls help in these tricky times and yes sunshine! Glad you found things to be thankful for. Enjoy your weekend.

  5. Oh my! I hadn’t realized 38 weeks of this. I knew it was a long time but I hadn’t really actually counted the weeks! I’m glad you got together with someone you enjoy being with for coffee and conversation. No judgment here 🙂

  6. I have been back at work for 100 days now. I work at a school. It’s been difficult and worrisome. I think we are all beginning to worry a bit more because cases here are on the rise.

  7. Sometimes it’s the little things that help us through. I agree about sunshine–it makes everything better! Sadly, our windows aren’t situated where we see sunrises or sunsets easily. But I love when I do catch a glimpse of one. It makes me want to just stop and look and drink it in for a while. Glad you had good conversations with your daughter and friend.
