I can’t believe it’s Friday already. In fact, I didn’t realize it until I came across a FFF post in my reader. Okay then, let’s get going with another Friday’s Fave Five post.
Oroweat Keto Tortillas. My daughter-in-love recommended these to me. I picked up a package at Costco this week and made quesadillas. They’re really good—keto or not–and combined with a Caesar salad made a nice light supper.
Wind. It’s been very windy this week. We live on a ridge where it’s often windy but this week it was even more blustery than normal. I’m not a fan of big wind, but this week it served to usher me full on into autumn. Crispy leaves tossed to and fro and cooler temps mean we’re there. Gerry even turned the fireplace on for a while one morning. It’s time for Sherpa blankets, soft socks, candles, and good books.
Shopping for new clothes. Not ordinarily a favourite thing, but this week we went shopping. It’s definitely not one of Gerry’s favourite things to do, but he managed to find some cool weather appropriate things at Mark’s and I placed an online order at Northern Reflection. Watching last weekend’s crazy record-breaking snowstorm in Moose Jaw helped nudged both of us into pre-winter mode.
Early morning silence and solitude while it’s still dark, a big mug of chili chocolate chai tea, dogs curled up beside me on the sofa. Need I say more?
Zoodles. Zucchini noodles. Low carb, quick and easy to make with a spiralizer, delicious, and suitable to to serve with the remaining pesto in the freezer or a delicious marinara sauce made with the last of the garden tomatoes. Zoodles are this recovering carb addict’s good friend these days.
Well, that’s it for this week. Gerry’s off for a hike today and I’m puttering around (and reading) at home. A perfect way to spend a blustery autumn day. Another open house this weekend. Cross your fingers, toes and eyes that a buyer will come soon!

Your week sounds so cosy and delicious.. Zoonoodles. never heard of such a thing what now I need to get a spiralizer! Have a cosy weekend!
Wishing you a cozy weekend too!
Hi Linda, those tortillas sound interesting. I think they would be good with guacamole.
Yes, they would go nicely with guacamole!
i have a spiralizer and haven’t used it much…now you’re inspiring me to get it out and make some zoodles….I LOVE them but they’re pricey to buy so making our own is a good thing! 🙂
I’d love to read your book about adoption (I have several church friends who have adopted toddlers….although now those toddlers are my daughters’ ages (early 20s-late 20s). Is it available through amazon by any chance?? (I saw it listed on the side bar).
Your week sounds like it was a cozy one…Moose Jaw?? The one in Canada I assume?? oh my…i’m glad it’s snowing out/up there and not here in New York!
Have a cozy weekend!!
I didn’t know you could buy pre-made zoodles. They’re so quick and easy to make with a spiralizer. Yes, my books are available through Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Linda-Hoye/e/B0081LI3IG?
How well I know and remember all the stress and anticipation of moving a long distance. I hope your house sells soon. Our rental house is already in contract. BUT. Our CA home took forever to sell (thanks, Covid).
We are in full autumn mode here. Brilliant leaves on the trees and after a wind and rain storm, leaves swirling all over the ground.
Thanks for the reminder to get busy finding more winter clothes!
Enjoy your weekend!
Isn’t autumn gorgeous?
Hi LInda. I hope you have have a good weekend. Sounds like you are selling your house. The market here in the western U.S. has slowed a lot, but it hasn’t crashed, so that is good. I hope you find a buyer soon. We will be selling our current abode next summer. I am going to have to check out your books on Amazon. They sound very interesting. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!
Yes, the market in Canada has slowed down as well but trusting that our home will sell in God’s good time. Hopefully things have turned around a bit when you’re ready to sell next summer.
My husband has been trying to reduce carbs due to his diabetes (and I could stand to reduce them due to weight). I haven’t seen those tortillas, but I found some low-carb ones that we really like. And we have a spiralizer, too! He really likes zoodles. For me, I mix them in with regular spaghetti–maybe one day I’ll change over completely. 🙂 We’ve found some frozen zoodles, but they tend to get too mushy when cooked.
Shopping for clothes is not my favorite, either, but it’s nice when you can find what you need without much trouble and at a good price.
Amen to early morning silence and solitude first thing in the morning.
Mixing Zoodles with pasta seems like a reasonable compromise for you!
