For a most of my life I didn’t like green beans. Or so I thought. My frame of reference for what green beans tasted like came from the mushy tasteless things that came from a can; no wonder I didn’t like them.
Then I became a gardener and planted some beans because it just seemed that a garden should have green beans in it. Turns out I love green beans!
This year has been a banner year for beans and I’ve got a freezer full tucked away for the winter. I’ve been going back and forth about whether to plant another crop of beans or use the space for something else.
Yesterday I canned some lemon-garlic beans using a new recipe I came across with the last of the beans and they were so tasty that my decision was an easy one. I’m sowing a new crop this morning. Bring on the green beans!

I’m thinking of trying something different in August on the blog. Maybe posting a photo a day with a special quote and a few thoughts like I’ve been doing on Instagram for a while. Maybe following along with a photo challenge and a different prompt every day. Maybe taking a blogging break, which I haven’t done since I started blogging eight years ago. (Hmmm….I just realized that I’m coming up to my blogaversary. Maybe I should do something to mark the occasion.) Or maybe I’ll do none of the above. That’s the joy about this stage of life; it’s my choice. 🙂 Stay tuned.

Always enjoy your blogs!
Yes, after 8 years you deserve a break – then perhaps publish a book of photos and quotes.
I’m looking forward to your decision whatever it is Linda. Isn’t it great to have choices that are your own?
I LOVE green beans. With new fingerling potatoes and ham. Side of cole slaw (vinegar base) and red tomatoes. Cherry pie and ice cream for dessert. My birthday meal every summer.
I love your photographs, Linda. They really help the observer to see and they ooze serenity.
Eight years is my anniversary too. That’s a lot of writing! Congratulations.
I just discovered your blog recently, and it is a treasure. I LOVE green beans from the garden. Anything from the garden, really.
Linda, It’s great to take a break from blogging from time to time. I always go back to it happy to be there again with new ideas!!
Love your “country” photos. I love fresh green beans as well.
One of my favourite summer vegetables! Wait? What am I saying? They’re ALL my favourite vegetables!
