I Fell in Love!

I fell in love a few weeks ago.

It was impossible not to.

Gerry and I toured a new housing development in our area. We were pleased so see construction starting some number of months ago. For the past four years the area where the new houses are has been like a ghost town of sorts. There were streets, street lights, roads, even a playground and a tennis court, but no houses. Sad, really, and a commentary on the economy of the past few years.

But a few weeks ago 11 model homes opened for viewing while construction continued nearby building even more homes. Curiosity got the best of us and we stopped by one day to take a tour.

Oh my.

I fell hopelessly in love with these homes because of just one feature they all had in common.

Outdoor rooms.

Gerry and I live outside when the weather allows us to, and having an outdoor room would extend our outside times quite likely to the entire year. Here is a photo I snapped in just one of the homes.

Oh if only we were in the market for a new home right now. Unfortunately we won’t be looking for anything for a couple more years until we’re ready to retire back to Canada. Canada. I’m thinking the outdoor room won’t work for us then.

Shoot.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. That is lovely. If you had that in Canada, would the view be blocked by snow in the winter? Lovely.

    1. It would be way too cold to sit in an outdoor room in the winter!

  2. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming,Linda. Like we say in NY ( re: NYS Lottery) ” Hey, Ya’ never know…” 🙂

    1. You’re absolutely right, Kathy!

  3. Oh, I see why you’re in love! Maybe you can find a way to create an outdoor room in your life as it is?

  4. Yep, I can definitely see you with one of these! Any way to add one to the house you have? I’m sure it would increase your resale value.
