We are having a wonderful time at the happiest place on earth. No, it’s not Disneyland, it’s Grandparent Land!
Yesterday we celebrated Jaxon’s fourth (!) birthday with a little pirate-theme party. His mom and dad had made an amazing treasure chest birthday cake that reminded me of the many, and varied, birthday cakes I made over the years for my children. Happy memories.
Being grandparents, of course we brought a few things with us for the grands. We arrived with the car filled to almost-overflowing and will be going home with much more room! Makiya entertained us trying on all of her new outfits–all at once! She looked a bit like the Pillsbury Dough Boy by the time she was finished!
There has been lots of cuddle time with two-week-old sweet baby Peyton too. There’s nothing quite like snuggling a newborn grandbaby to fill your heart with gratitude for the miracles of life.
Today, Laurinda and I are taking Makiya to a nursery to choose plants and seeds for her very own garden that we’ll plant together.
These are the things memories are made of.
I continue to be blessed by comments from readers of Two Hearts, and in my spare moments I’m working on a few avenues for making the book more available in Canada.
The rest of the week stretches out in front of me filled with promise and all the best things.
What is your week looking like?

I just finished Two Hearts, (mainly because couldn’t put it down) so I feel I have already met your family! What a delightful story you have here of “grandma-hood.” I love it! Thanks for sharing
Hi Linda .. the party looks just wonderful + all the activities you’re doing together .. such fun to hear about. So pleased for you – grandparenthood is good .. not to say I can put a foot in that corner, but I can ‘feel’ it ..
Such fun – enjoy the times together .. cheers Hilary
Linda, thanks for sharing your grandma-hood with all of us. Especially with those of us whose grandchildren leave thousands of miles away. I’m sure the time with family is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, blessing in your life right now. I can’t wait to read Two Hearts — I hear and read such good things about it. Kudos to you for what appears to be a success!
