Lilac Time

I’ve had the best time this week with lilacs. So beautiful, so fragrant, and fraught with memories of people and places that exist only in my memories . . .they’re my absolute favourite flower.

It won’t be long before this season’s blossoms are simply memories too. I’m considering getting a few prints–and maybe some cards–made with some of the images I’ve captured so I can continue to enjoy them.

I take so many photographs yet rarely print any of them. In talking with another photographer friend yesterday I find I’m not alone in this. I think it’s time to change that.

So that’s my life this week. Taking a few photos, tending my garden, writing, reading, and good conversations with a few friends. Not a bad way to spend one’s time.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. I say Yes to your card idea, Linda. Nothing holds nostalgia better than a bowl of lilacs. Love this!

  2. Wonderful photos and a wonderful idea.

    1. Thank you, Karen!

  3. The scent of lilacs brings me right back to childhood, when lilacs lined both sides of our backyard and I would hide among them listening to bees and drinking in the heavenly perfume. Such a lovely flower, and lovely photos you have of them – ahh.

    1. I remember playing in the lilacs around the perimeter of our yard too, Linda. Heavenly.

  4. I LOVE lilacs and your photos.
