“My heart ‘s in the Highlands, my heart is not here; My heart ‘s in the Highlands a-chasing the deer.”

~ Robert Burns

It’s very early as I write this; the sun hasn’t even begun to think about rising. Gerry just rolled over to go back to sleep after taking Maya outside, but not before informing me of the damage in my front flower garden.

Dang deer. Sounds like they snacked on my daffodils overnight. Yesterday afternoon I stood outside admiring the sunny blooms thinking I might pluck a few to photograph today. This, after I just made note of the cheeky deer footprints through my garden, and evidence of their munching on my chives.

It’s time to put the deer proof netting back on the garden again. Let the games begin.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things.
