This summer’s fits and starts sputter into motion again this morning.
We are home after a weekend away in which we watched our granddaughter perform in a play (and witnessed the pure joy on her face during the curtain call), enjoyed an afternoon rock hunting on a remote beach with our daughter and granddaughter (something new for me), and played board games. Oh, and surprise of surprises, I won a lively game of HORSE we played in the schoolyard after dinner one evening.
They were a simple few days bracketed by long drives, podcasts, and scribbled book notes (because one is never really not writing).
It’s a Monday that feels like a Sunday here in British Columbia where we’re celebrating BC Day. Odd, but even in retirement a holiday can throw things off for the week. I’m looking forward to some silent and solitary retreat days later this week, but first we tackle this get-back-on-track Monday.

Fits and Starts means your engine is running, even when it’s on “idle.”
