“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”
~ William Faulkner
My granddaughter, who’s been homeschooled until now, starts grade three in public school today. Since her mom decided a couple of weeks ago to take this step, I’ve been praying for an easy transition for my Ladybug Girl. This morning I’m filled with gratitude for answered prayer.
There were four possible schools in the running for her to attend. One rose to the top as the clear choice last week, and Daughter and Granddaughter were invited to meet the principal, tour the school, and visit what will be her classroom.
Imagine their surprise to find two kids in the class she already knows from dance class. That’ll make it easier, yes? But wait. It gets better.
My granddaughter’s name is Makiya, not a name you hear every day, and it turns out there is a girl in the class also named Makiya (though spelled slightly different). Her mom connected with my daughter at a function held at the school last week, the two Makiyas had a play date on Friday and had a blast together.
Think this first day of school is going to be a whole lot less scary than it could have been for her? Yup. Me too. Coincidence? Nope. I don’t believe in coincidence.
Thank you, God, for answered prayer reminding me that you are working all things together before we even know there will be a need, and that you care about every big and small thing in our lives.

Wish you had a LOVE button!
Aw, thank you, Mary Jo.
