Rest

it is far more likely that we do not recognize God’s presence in our lives than it is that God is not present in our lives.

Robert Benson, In Constant Prayer

I’m thinking about time, and how, at this time of year, it can feel as if there isn’t enough of it. Or, conversely, for those who struggle, it can drag—this month, one to just get through.

And I’m thinking about how the Creator isn’t constrained by time, and how I don’t understand it, but I don’t have to in order to rest in that truth.

And so, rest in it, I do.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. Troubling disappointments this past month, but I know hope. And I will rest in this Hope.

    1. Oh, Marian, what would we do without this Hope? Praying for you this morning that you would continue to rest in abiding peace that goes beyond understanding in this season.

  2. December is a hard month to get through, with lots of emotions and challenges to navigate through every day.

    1. Ah yes, so true, Diane. Quiet longing does a slow burn at this time of year. It can be a challenge to walk through this season. Praying for you this morning.
