Saturday in December? I’ll stay home where it’s quiet, thank you very much. But I propose something else after we enjoy a late lunch, and a game of Qwirkle (the house favourite): a drive with our cameras to see what we can see. Gerry is all for it.
We gather our cameras and related paraphernalia, drive down the hill, and pick up a delicious seasonal caramel brûlée latte, and head for the hills. One of the benefits of these shorter days is that golden hour—the hour before sunset, and the best time for shooting—comes early.
There’s no snow where we live yet, but we don’t have to drive far to find some. The light is good; the shadows are long, the air is cool and crisp, but not cold; and I’m sipping coffee and sitting next to the best date in the world. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon in December.
