Over the course of the millennia, all these multitudes of ancestors, generation upon generation, have come down to this moment in time—to give birth to you. There has never been, nor will ever be, another like you. You have been given a tremendous responsibility. You carry the hopes and dreams of all those who have gone before. Hopes and dreams for a better world. What will you do with your time on this Earth? How will you contribute to the ongoing story of humankind?

~ Laurence Overmire

How can I contribute—positively—to the ongoing story today?

Does the way I choose to live my life honour the lives of my ancestors who fled persecution in Russia and crossed the sea to make a new life in another land?

Does it honour my Creator?

Am I being intentional about the legacy I will leave for my grandchildren and their children and those who will follow?

Am I walking with integrity?

Am I being kind? Extending grace?

Am I holding others—and myself—accountable, believing we can all do better?

Am I a giver or a taker?

How can I contribute?

Examining my heart as I begin this day.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
