“Silence is like scouring sand. When you are quiet, the silence blows against your mind and etches away everything that is soft and unimportant.”

~ Gordon Hempton

For a short week this one has felt long. And busy. Lots going on and lots on my mind, all culminating with a restless night. Coffee is my good and faithful friend this morning.

Today, Gerry’s hiking and I’m . . . well I’m not sure yet.

Recalling my 2017 goal for intentional focus I’m going back to the basics, seeking direction, making plans, and, above all, praying. That sounds like more than enough for this cool and cloudy day.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things.

  1. Why is it “short” weeks seem longer? I had an additional day off on Tuesday, and this week seemed interminable. Tough, busy week.
