“In omnibus requiem quaesivi, et nusquam inveni nisi in angulo cum libro.
(Everywhere I have sought peace and not found it, except in a corner with a book.)”

~ Thomas à Kempis

We wake to relatively clear air this morning under cloudy skies and a breeze. The deck is wet with rain–how wonderful!–and a bit more is forecast for today.

Gerry is home, his plan to leave in the wee hours of this morning for the annual salmon fishing trip on hold as the wildfires burn and roads are closed.

I haven’t been in the garden for two days, a record, as I continue rest at home dealing with a medical issue. Today perhaps . . . in the rain maybe.

Simple happy:

  • Fresh and clear morning air.
  • Rain!
  • 18 quarts of dill pickles on the counter.
  • A good book. (Three Sisters, Three Queens by Phillippa Gregory)
  • A day of rest.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. I’m so sorry about your fires. So tragic. I wish you days and days and days of rain.
