The most precious gifts you can think of are not ends in themselves. They all lead to God. Ultimately, that is what all His gifts are for.
John Piper
I wake feeling fat.
It’s not from the abundance of ice cream (though there is that too), but with moments and places and experiences with my loves that I feel full. Gratitude booms loud around here this summer.
In the silence of this pre-dawn morning, I pause and offer a prayer of thanksgiving.
Even if none of this, there would still be abundance.
Thank you, Jesus, you are my all in all.

I’ve always felt a bit uneasy about the KJV rendering of Palm 92:14
“They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.”
This post made that thought seem palatable, Linda.
(Especially after I stepped on the scale after vacation – ha!)
That would have been a good scripture to accompany this post. It’s funny how words can rub us the wrong way. Ladybug Girl was appalled at my use of the word “fat” when she first read this post. (I’m predicting that the scale and I will struggle with our relationship after she leaves at the end of the week.)
