“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”

~ Henri Nouwen

The whisper of the automatic sprinklers as they come on.

The cool, fresh morning air.

Open windows and doors.

Sunshine on the messed-from-the-night duvet cover.

Maya snoring softly.

Frothy coffee.

Birdsong.

Simple happy. Right here. Right now.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. Blessings to you this Sunday. What a lovely view to wake up to. How I pray for this kind of peace all over the world.
