We’re driving to a favourite park to see what we can see, with our cameras in tow, when Gerry makes an unexpected right turn. I smile, anticipating his destination.
Our car makes fresh tracks in the snow as he pulls into the parking lot of the community garden. There’s not much to see, the ground is still under a blanket of snow. It gives me a little thrill nonetheless; it won’t be long.
The melt has begun. The forecast for every day in the foreseeable future shows above-freezing temperatures.
My favourite sound these days is the trickling of melting snow flowing in the eaves troughs. Rivulets of snow-melt flow down the hill that takes us out of our neighbourhood.
On my windowsill, next to the Aerogarden, pretty primroses and a hyacinth in bud make a happy vignette. Crocuses and other bulbs are starting to come up, revealed as the snow melts in the yard. I’ve inventoried my seeds, and bought a few more.
It’s officially ten days away but, just when we think we can’t take one more minute of winter, it starts to spring.

I love that your florals are making a spring-time comeback. 🙂
Me too, Karen. 🙂 Buh bye, winter.
