“Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light.”

~ Madeleine L’Engle, A Ring of Endless Light

I’m baking bread before we head to church this morning. There are beautiful garden fresh heirloom tomatoes on my kitchen counter begging to be enjoyed on a buttered slab with just a titch of salt and pepper: the lunch of champions.

I need to tend to the pile of tomatoes and either can or freeze them. I was leaning toward freezing but my freezer is full-to-bursting so I may can them instead. Maybe this afternoon.

Or maybe I’ll just read instead.

It’s good to have options.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
