The inspection of our Kamloops home happened yesterday, so while people were in our house we loaded up the dogs and took a drive to the local ski hill. It was a beautiful drive, and when we arrived at Sun Peaks I felt like we had dropped into a Hallmark Christmas movie (yes, I’ve started watching and have built time into our packing schedule to make room for a good many more before we head to the prairies). We were surprised at how empty the hills. We saw one lone snowboarder coming down. It’s early, and the snow making machine was working so I’m sure it won’t be long before the hills are packed with people.
In other news, we’re getting tired of eggs, cheese, bacon, and other fatty things. Keto is turning out to be expensive—especially now with what’s happening to the price of groceries. It’s becoming too much to balance with the move details taking priority and we have to start consuming what’s left in the freezer. Gerry has reached his weight goal (men!) and I’m getting there. Will the weight we lost return? Who knows. We have strategies in place but time will tell. Anyway, we’re going to start transitioning off keto and I feel like my sugar and carb addictions have been wrestled into relative submission for now. At the very least I’m more mindful and that’s a good step in the direction of making good choices.
So, today we’ll resume packing, following the handy dandy planning spreadsheet I put together on the weekend (once a project planner, always a project planner), I’ll venture out to get a few groceries, make something non-keto for dinner, and maybe curl up with the pups and a mug of tea and catch a Hallmark movie later this afternoon.
Here we go, Monday. Let’s do this.
