The Bin

Well, I did it.

I ventured into that most scary of rooms in our house – the attic.

Really, it’s not so much the room that is scary as what lies within.

The Bin.

The Bin holds my out-of-season clothes; with the weather turning nicer I couldn’t put off my journey into The Bin any longer. Don’t get me wrong, I am more than ready to make the switch to wearing capri pants every day. It’s just the task of pulling everything out and trying things on that I have been dreading.

So far this year I have been wearing capri-style yoga pants around the house; they are über comfortable with their elastic waistband and all.

In The Bin there are capri pants of multiple sizes; last season I actually went through a couple of those sizes. I wondered what would be waiting in there for me this year. It can be very discouraging to dig into The Bin at the beginning of the season.

I have been on Weight Watchers for a couple of months and I’ve had some results. I’m losing weight gradually, which is apparently the healthier (albiet more frustrating) way to do it, so I wasn’t sure what I would find in The Bin today.

I was, I am pleased to say, pleasantly surprised!

So, the capri’s are out and I am heading out for my first pedicure of the season this afternoon. Let summer begin!

(Would someone please pass this along to Mother Nature? We would be very happy to share the deluge of rain we’ve been getting with our neighbors to the south who so desperately need some.)

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. I agree! I am really tired of all this rain… And congratulations on finding goodies in The Bin!

    1. As a fellow Pacific Northwest resident, you know exactly what I am talking about, DJan. We are both overdue for some sunny days!

  2. Hooray for a smaller size! Way to go. (I know that dreadful feeling, too.)

    1. Karen! Loved that picture of the strange animal on your blog today!

  3. Good for you! I had some capris out, then the temps dropped into the 40’s…dang! I actually went out and bought some new ones..didn’t try them on in the store. I got home and tried them on and jumped up and down because they were too big!!! Then I saw that I had grabbed the wrong size…well, atleast they didn’t fit…thank the Lord. So back to the store for my regular size…dang!

    1. LOL, YaYa! I venture a guess that there is not a woman alive who can’t empathize with what you’re saying!
