Faithful one, so unchanging
Ageless one, you’re my rock of peace

Brian Doerksen, Faithful One

Yesterday, I woke up thinking it was Tuesday; this morning I thought it was Friday. I’m a creature of habit and when life hits an unexpected bump, as it did early this week, it takes a toll physically and mentally. I guess that comes with age.

In the wee hours of this morning when I should have been sleeping, I lay pondering God’s faithfulness. In light of a study on the book of Joshua that I’ve been working through with a group of women, in terms of the horrible tragedy in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, and with respect to circumstances in my own life—He remains all that is good and right and true.

My anchor.

There will always be unexpected bumps, unimaginable tragedies, moments whose effects ripple through time and space, and things I struggle to comprehend.

But God.

You are my rock in times of trouble
You lift me up when I fall down
All through the storm
Your love is, the anchor
My hope is in You alone

Brian Doerksen, Faithful One

Always.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
