“Solitude is the furnace of transformation.”
~ Henri Nouwen, The Way of the Heart
Just when it seemed that it wouldn’t happen, it happened: Gerry left in the wee hours of this morning for his annual fishing trip.
The road to his ocean destination is not fully open due to the wildfires, but they are taking people through with pilot cars three times a day. It will be a time of fishing and fellowship that will, I trust, fill our freezer with fish!
Meanwhile, here on the home front, I’ve got big plans for canning, gardening, reading, writing, and photography in his absence. Pacing myself this year, I’m also looking forward to enjoying a good measure of down time.
Let the games begin.

Simple happy.
- A sliver of red moon.
- Green peppers from the garden.
- A morning hug.
- Waking from a dream, to find that it was a dream, and I wasn’t, after all, being terrorized by wild cats.
- Coyotes calling.
