It has always taken me a long time to think of something to say, and then more often than not I say it to myself.

Wendell Berry, Jayber Crow

Sometimes it feels too loud and busy, even when it doesn’t appear that way. That’s a sign that it’s time for intentional solitude and silence, those sweetest of disciplines that speak the clearest.

Heading out early for fasting blood work; then getting COFFEE and going to find me some of that sweetness in which I can write.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. I feel this way sometimes…it’s too loud here! Fortunately, I have my palace of solitude (home), and I’m getting to know the “quiet” places on campus where I can be quiet and alone.
