“We are all joined in a circle of stories.”
~ Linda Joy Myers, Journey of Memoir: The Three Stages of Memoir Writing

We’re having lunch at the mall–grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter–and it strikes me that thirty-plus years ago we were at the same place. Grandmother then, now long gone, but remembered always. Grandmother now, then daughter. Daughter now, then granddaughter. Granddaughter now, unimagined then. Three together at the same place, in a different world.

I can’t help wonder if, one day, the page will turn and my daughter, future grandmother, will lunch there with her daughter and a sweet, but now unimagined, granddaughter as the memory of this day will come to mind as the circle of life continues.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
