Wednesday, April 24, 2019 – Twenty Years

Yesterday, we drove the same highway we took two decades ago enroute to our honeymoon destination in Victoria, BC. We were on the way to somewhere different this time, somewhere we think we might have been before—maybe even on our way home from our honeymoon—but we’re not certain. After two decades, our memories are soft and comfortable—and sometimes a little bit foggy.

Today marks twenty years since Gerry and I stood at the front of a little church and vowed, before God and the select few we invited to share our day, to love, honour, and cherish one another. We’re spending a few days with no schedule, no obligations, and no appointments other than those we make with ourselves to sit in the hot springs, take walks, visit the local tulip festival, drive through beautiful farm land, and play with our cameras. A second honeymoon.

Marriage is grace and we are blessed.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. Congratulations to you both! I hope that the next 20 years are just as blessed.

    1. Thanks so much, Beth.

  2. Congratulations, you two!

We celebrated our 50th at the same destination. We will always love Victoria, B.C. – I’m sure I blogged about it.

    Again, congrats!

    1. I remember reading about your 50th anniversary trip to Victoria, Marian. It’s a great place to honeymoon and celebrate anniversaries!
