“Kids are hard–they drive you crazy and break your heart–whereas grandchildren make you feel great about life, and yourself, and your ability to love someone unconditionally, finally, after all these years.”

~ Anne Lamott, Some Assembly Required

It’s strange to be planning indoor activities while our granddaughter is with us this summer but that’s what we are having to do as a result of the terrible smoke from forest fires.

Yesterday, we headed out-of-town to escape it and had some fun at a kangaroo farm. Yes, a kangaroo farm. We had a grand time.

Today, swimming at the recreation centre and lunch out at her favourite place. A day peppered, I predict, with a plethora of random games and songs that spring up at a moment’s notice.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things.
