“I don’t believe in the kind of magic in my books. But I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.”
~ J.K. Rowling
When I was still working, this week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve was one of organizing and planning. The office was relatively quiet as many people were on vacation which meant fewer meetings and more desk time. It was a perfect time to catch up and put things in order.
I’ve been intending to have some desk time at home this week but the lure of a good book and cozy sofa time with my hubby and my Yorkie have proven irresistible. Yesterday, we ventured out for a short while to do a bit of shopping but were happy to return home to our reading sanctuary.
Today, Gerry is off snowshoeing and I’ve got a list of things I want to do–including spending some time at my desk. That is, if I don’t decide to just stay in my new jammies and reading socks and spend time with a good book instead.

Spending time at my desk too: Today I remembered I have one whole filing cabinet drawer with hanging Pendaflex folders and no files. I began the day filing away stuff that has been sitting on the writing studio floor since our move. Good feeling to find a “home” for stuff!
Sounds like a great way to spend a day. Getting things organized and put away does help clear the mind, doesn’t it?
I dunno know Linda. Option B for today doesn’t sound all that bad. ?
I went for a combination of both options. ?
I have plenty to do at my “desk.” (Quotes because my “desk” is littered with art supplies and my actual desk is an ottoman right now!) I too am easily swayed by a good book, or research I find so interesting I can’t wait to find that next tidbit. I always say, ‘when I’m on vacation, I’m gonna…..’ and then I never do. I’m on vacation this week, and I enjoyed the holidays with family, read, read some more, drafted a blog, and not much else. I may actually get up and get dressed today. Oh! Love the pup photo!
The lure of a good book beckons me today too! Plus rain is pat-pat-pattering at my window which is rare here in sunny southern Calif. It’s another incentive to curl up in my easy chair and visit France where the protagonist in my story lives. But a messy office calls to me too–old photos I shared with family at Christmas are not put away yet.
But, whatever we end up doing, it will be a stellar day, right?
Love your cuddly little dog!
