The Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Welcome, February, month of love and groundhogs and anticipation of spring. I’m having a wonderful time with the new seed catalogs dreaming of this year’s garden. I may pull out my seeds today and winter sow some lettuce. Doing my best to sow those things St Francis spoke of too.

I’m craving routine but don’t think we’re quite there yet. Meanwhile, carrying on and finding delight in small and simple things.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things.

  1. Simply stunning! We have a rose bud and every now and then an hibiscus blooming. I’d love to send you one today, Linda, but I’d need a better camera – or lens – or expertise.
