God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.

Augustine

So, too, does God speak to us in a manner uniquely suited to us. Through the Word, yes, but also intimately in the night seasons, through music and art, in the way of the garden, through the words of another, in ways I can’t imagine because they’re not mine.

This I believe as sure as I know the sun will soon rise above the mountain outside my window.

We need only to be still and listen for that still and small voice. Yet, even as I write these words, only seems inadequate to describe what is required.

In this world it is not easy to be still. It takes intention and discipline to listen, and we are too often running.

And so, we look for fast answers and temporary soothing of our personal pain when we need only to be still and listen for that unique voice of Love.

This, my goal on a day that we can allow to twist the truth ever so slightly.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.
