Reading well adds to our life—not in the way a tool from the hardware store adds to our life, for a tool does us no good once lost or broken, but in the way a friendship adds to our life, altering us forever.”

I reflect, and write in this space, about how my book habit has gotten somewhat out of control.

Then, I spend the morning writing. Gerry and I go out for lunch, do a bit of shopping, and stop by the annual second-hand book sale that supports our local symphony. I do my civic duty and purchase a few books.

No apologies.
