Books don’t change people; paragraphs do. Sometimes even sentences.

~ John Piper, A Godward Life: Savoring the Supremacy of God in All of Life

Busy day yesterday but that doesn’t explain why I slept in. I hate sleeping in. Throws my whole day off.

So, behind before I begin and, as a result, leaning in heavy to solitude and silence this morning.

Gathering with my Bible study group this afternoon to be changed as we dig deeper into the sentences and paragraphs in the book.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. I rarely “sleep in” – sleeping in for me is getting up at 6am. But I do like to go back to bed on days off (like today). Sleeping late makes me feel like I’m behind all day, like I might have missed something! Puts me off all day long. And yes, even on days off I get up way early.

    1. It was after six for me this morning, Karen. I’m much happier to rise when the clock says 4, or even 5. Happy Thanksgiving eve, Karen. I wish you a restful holiday filled with family, fun, and much gratitude.

  2. Shame on me! I am just now finding your blog through your Amazon page. I’m an early riser, too. However, since retirement, my husband’s sleeping until 8:00 is slowly wearing off on me. When I rise at 7:00 now, I feel as though half my day is gone. good to connect with you again, Linda.

    1. Welcome, Judy! How wonderful to see you here this morning. Congratulations on your recent book release and Happy Thanksgiving.
