Here’s the thing about words and quotes and verses: they can be irritating.

They can give form to those deep things we struggle to express but they can also be meaningless words we toss out as a substitute for heart-to-heart connection and empathy.

So no quote today.

Today I’m thinking about risk, vulnerability, deposits and withdrawals made to emotional bank accounts, connection and disconnection, and how easy and tempting it is to stay on the surface.

I’m thinking about sunshine, and gardens, and hope; while outside I’m seeing fog and gray and fall. I’m thinking about people and places I miss.

And in this grayness I’m choosing to add a few things to my Simple Happy list.

  • Pedicures
  • Quilts
  • Music
  • The gift of spending time with my mom in a dream

Wednesday. Midweek. Let’s do this.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. Your words and quotes are never irritating to me. Photos – many sublime!

I could never keep up with a daily blog post – often scramble to do a weekly one.

    1. Thank you so much, Marian. Your encouraging words mean a lot.
