A local news source often prefixes its early morning social media posts with “what you need to know”. It gets my back up. I don’t like the news media telling me what I need to know for many reasons, none of which I’ll go into here.
Rather, I scroll past and think about what I do need to know on this beautiful August morning. Here’s a few things.
My girls arrived safely yesterday afternoon and are fast asleep downstairs.
Everyone in this house is safe and healthy.
Gerry is heading out early this morning to get soil for my new raised garden beds.
I have to tend to some Story Circle Network business this morning.
Six beautiful jars of beet pickles rest on the kitchen counter and need to be taken downstairs and put on the shelf.
There’s a big bag of beet greens in the laundry room that I need to blanch and freeze today.
Today, the four people in this house will work and play and enjoy hugs and laughter and good conversation and don’t have to agree on every single jot and tittle in order to get along, be respectful, and love one another.

We “don’t have to agree on every single jot and tittle in order to get along, be respectful, and love one another.” AMEN, Linda! I dare say getting along with others is a sign of maturity and seems to be in short supply in some arenas. Thank you for reminding us what it looks like!
Ah, if only the world could evolve along the lines of your last paragraph – that’d be heaven on earth. So lovely to hear you are creating it in your home :).
