Birthday Snow

Posted on November 22, 2024 by Linda

We had a big dump of snow this week and are currently under a snowfall warning for the weekend. Though the calendar says otherwise, winter is most definitely upon us here in Saskatchewan.

Just now, I’m sitting here in the wing chair in my woman cave listening to my Gregorian playlist on Amazon music while tapping out these words. Do you know them? I recently discovered their music and I’m completely smitten.

It was Gerry’s birthday yesterday and he won’t mind if I tell you it was his seventy-seventh. He joked about being better than James Bond 007 now. Seven is the biblical number of perfection or completion and I’m choosing to believe this will be a great year.

The birthday boy bought a new snowblower yesterday. The one we brought with us from B.C. is no match for Saskatchewan drifts. I think there’s a chance he’s looking forward to getting out there with it this weekend. 😊

Speaking of birthdays, a dear friend is celebrating the same milestone and the four of us are going out for dinner this evening to mark the occasion. I’m looking forward to a fun time with special friends.

While my husband was out playing with his new toy yesterday, I put up the non-traditional tree. I love the cozy ambience it creates on these ever-darker days. I’ve learned to really appreciate these dark months and the opportunity to hunker down at home. Who am I kidding? I use any excuse to hunker down at home no matter the season.

Looking at the time, I see I need to get ready to go out so I’ll end this for now. Perhaps I’ll pop in tomorrow and let you know how the snowfall warning is playing itself out.

Pleasant evening, all.

I wrote a message and then in the middle my Internet went off. So now I don’t know if my note to you got through before or not. So I’ll try to say it again, if you get it double, you can always delete one of them. 🙂

I love your non-traditional tree with its warm cozy lights. It creates a lovely ambiance on these dark days. I do have candles and a few lights around the place. Wishing you a happy birthday celebration, with happy greeting to your 77-year-old fellow. My hubbs celebrates his 77th in a few days too. It must have been a very good year.

    Wishing you a beautiful day.

I really like the non-traditional tree. It’s such a joy during these dark months and will probably stay up until February. Happy 77th to your hubby too!

Hi, I’m Linda Hoye. Welcome! I live in Saskatchewan, Canada with my husband and our Yorkie, Molly. Retired from my corporate career, I appreciate having time and opportunity to fill my days with things that nourish my soul and spirit like writing. watercolour painting, reading, gardening, and blogging about the simple joys of every day. I’ve been blogging since 2008, starting fresh here in 2022 when we moved home to Saskatchewan. May this space be a sanctuary in a very noisy world. 😊
